EngageSportMode started out as the work of just one man, but over time it has evolved to feature other bloggers, commentators and contributors. Here is a quick rundown of who’s who:
– Winner of the Guild of Motoring Writer’s Motoring Research Breakthrough Blogger Award 2014
– Shortlisted 2015 UK Blog Awards – Automotive Individual
– Shortlisted 2015 AA Car Blog Awards – Rising Star
The primary voice of EngageSportMode. Despite studying law, and later politics, my main love has always been cars and motorsport. I also happen to really love writing, and EngageSportMode was the net result of these two passions.
I am not a trained automotive journalist, nor writer, but I’ve read enough car magazines and books over the years to know what I think makes a good review or feature and what doesn’t.
Currently drives: 2015 Volkswagen Polo GTI.
The Tame Geek
Along with loving all things techie, the Tame Geek is also a big fan of cars. A larger than life character, he fancies himself as the next Jeremy Clarkson. Don’t forget to check out his website for all your design and technology needs.
Currently drives: Volkswagen Passat, diesel.
ESM’s BTCC Correspondent – Hieldsy
The man who orchestrates EngageSportMode’s touring car coverage and our road trips to various rounds. Offers up news and post-race reports on all things related to the British Touring Car Championship. He also happens to be a school teacher as well.
Currently drives: SEAT Altea XL TDi.
The newest, and youngest, addition to the EngageSportMode team. Ned has delivered ESM with a string of high-quality new car articles, whilst also managing his own personal blog. We’re keen to promote fresh talent, and Ned deserves to be recognised for the impressive ability he’s showing at a young age. He’s also already been accepted by the Guild of Motoring Writers as a Provisional Member.
Currently drives: Nothing, yet.
Likes to write articles about women drivers and girls’ cars from the female perspective. Can get distracted by Grey’s Anatomy, Gossip Girl or netball. Also owns a selection of books on ’70s muscle cars. Probably why I married her.
Currently drives: Kia Pro_cee’d
Senna D. Dog – ESM Mascot
She may be a whippet, but she’s more accurate than 1997 F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve when it comes to making predictions. Named after, arguably, Formula 1’s greatest ever driver (Ayrton, not Bruno obviously). Not a huge fan of riding in the car, which is somewhat ironic. Used to be our F1 Correspondent, but was sacked after not writing anything for two years.
Currently drives: Everybody else crazy.
Another former student of the law, ESM’s Uncle Steve now happens to be an ICT Teacher. Despite all those lengthy school holidays, he occasionally manages to find the time to contribute to EngageSportMode; usually to complain about customer service.
Currently drives: Nissan Qashqai. An obvious rarity in the North East.
