It might be a Bank Holiday, but ESM doesn’t sleep.

Well, unless you count the 12 hours of slumber last night/this morning/this afternoon. But that’s not important.

What is important is moving this blog forward, and to do so I’m going to introduce the feature categories I intend to update on a regular basis. So without any further ado, here we go:

CCIL – Which stands for Crap Cars I Like. Throughout my 20+ years of car obsession, I developed strange affinities for a number of “unusual” vehicles. With this feature I’m not going to attempt to prove I’m right (clearly I just am…) but instead will try to explain why I like such automotive randomness.

Classified Dreaming – As my girlfriend will probably tell you (with a disapproving look) I spend an inordinate amount of time looking through classified listings for second-hand exotic cars. With the existence of the iPhone I can do this from the comfort of my own armchair, toilet, 3/4 of the way up the stairs, whilst making a cup of tea; you get the idea. So I’m going to attempt to put all this “research” to good use and display the cars I truly lust over.

I Could Afford That – This is similar to Classified Dreaming, but at the other end of the economic scale. As opposed to Maserati’s, Ferrari’s, Sao Penza’s (joke) this will feature realistic, affordable cars. For clarification that’s based on affordable to me. If you happen to be a Russian Oligarch our views of affordable may differ. Also, if you are a Russian Oligarch, “hello to you!” ESM does accept donations of iPads, large quantities of cash but no drugs or hookers just in case you’re feeling generous.

Things I Couldn’t Live Without – In the decade or so I’ve been driving the motoring landscape has evolved quite considerably. And by that I’m not talking about the proliferation of speed bumps and no-car lanes, but the changes in car technology. My first car had a tape player and wind up windows; with this feature I’ll attempt to demonstrate the things I now cannot (perhaps sadly) own a car without.

The Panda – Call it the equivalent of a long-term test but with less MPG graphs and more enthusiasm.

Finally, along with the above features, there will also be me offering my opinions on stuff, commentary on new cars and hopefully getting behind the wheel of some real vehicles.

To anyone and everyone who takes the time to read this I genuinely thank you for doing so. Please stick with me, as intend to make this a successful and enjoyable project for all. If you have comments or suggestions please let me know. Also, tell your friends; the more who read, comment and follow, the better it shall be.
