The annual GTI Meeting at Wörthersee is something the Volkswagen Group takes very seriously, using it to show off some of the wildest creations from the VAG empire. This year, Skoda has not one, but two, special concept vehicles on show.
There seems to be something of a trend with pickups as Wörthersee show creations. Two years ago Volkswagen had the Amorak Power-Pickup, and this year a team of Skoda apprentices have made this FUNstar baby-sized ute. Based on a Fabia supermini chassis, the FUNstar features a 1.2-litre TSI engine and a 7-speed DSG gearbox. There’s also 18″ alloy wheels borrowed from the Octavia vRS, along with Fast & Furious style LED lights underneath. The compact cabin features a 1400w stereo system, which must be rather loud in that small space!
It does remind us of the old Skoda Felicia Fun pickup from many years ago, although the FUNstar is clearly much greener – in colour at least.
